Flagler County Commission Sets Proposed Millage Rate, Schedules September Budget Hearing
The Flagler County Commission voted during a special meeting on July 13, 2026, to establish a proposed combined operating millage rate of 7.9945 mills. That figure includes a general fund operating millage rate of 7.8695 mills and an Environmentally Sensitive Lands (ESL) operating millage rate of 0.1250 mills.
Commissioners also approved a debt service millage rate of 0.0961 mills tied to the 2015 general obligation bond, and authorized the necessary paperwork in accordance with Chapter 200 of the Florida Statutes.
The motion was made by Commissioner Hansen and seconded by Commissioner Carney. Following a period for public comment, during which no members of the public approached, the commission passed the measure by roll call vote, with Commissioners Hansen, Carney, Dance, Richardson and Chairperson Pennington all voting in favor.
As part of the same action, the commission set the first public hearing to adopt the proposed millage rate and tentative budget for Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 5:01 p.m. The hearing will be held at the Flagler County Government Services Building, 1769 East Moody Boulevard, Building 2, in Bunnell.
The proposed millage rate represents a preliminary figure; final rates and the budget are subject to adoption at the upcoming public hearing, where residents will have another opportunity to comment.
