April 14, 2026

A St. Augustine man faces drug charges following a traffic stop in Flagler Beach on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

John Tiller, 56, was pulled over on North Ocean Shore Boulevard near Surfview Drive after a Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputy observed his white Chevrolet speeding. During the stop, deputies reported detecting the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

According to the sheriff's office, neither Tiller nor his female passenger had a medical marijuana card. A search of Tiller and the vehicle yielded a THC dab pen, a small bag containing a crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, suspected THC wax concentrate, and additional drug paraphernalia.

Tiller was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis under 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and is being held on $3,500 bond. The passenger was released at the scene without charges.

The sheriff's office reports that Tiller has prior arrests for cannabis possession.

The arrest was one of 12 made by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office between 6 p.m. Friday, April 10, and 6 a.m. Monday, April 13. During that 60-hour period, deputies responded to 963 calls for service and conducted 170 traffic stops.
