Flagler Sheriff's Mounted Posse Volunteers Serve on Horseback

April 14, 2026

Volunteers on horseback are helping the Flagler County Sheriff's Office serve the community, and this National Volunteer Week, the agency is tipping its hat to these dedicated riders.

The FCSO Mounted Posse is a specialized volunteer unit whose members use their own horses to support law enforcement operations throughout Flagler County.

Community Presence and Emergency Response

The mounted volunteers are a familiar sight at parades and community events across Palm Coast and surrounding areas, where they represent the Sheriff's Office and connect with residents.

But the unit's role extends beyond public appearances. Mounted Posse members can be deployed for search and rescue missions, with many receiving specialized training through the North Florida Search Team.

The program operates under Sheriff Rick Staly. Residents interested in volunteering with their horses can learn more about requirements and how to apply through the Flagler County Sheriff's Office website.
