May 2, 2026 10:00 AM Palm Coast Community Center

Mark your calendars!

Next Chapter Support Services is proud to host our Life Skills Workshop Series for adults 18 and up with Autism and related intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We invite you to join us for an interactive, supportive workshop designed to help adults develop practical social‑communication skills that can be used in everyday life.

Workshop Topics Include:
How to Start & End a Conversation
Learn simple and effective ways to greet someone, join a conversation, and close interactions politely and confidently.
Friend vs. Stranger
Understand the difference between acquaintances, friends, and strangers—and how communication expectations change with each.
Recognizing When Someone Is Interested in Talking
Identify verbal and non‑verbal signals that show when someone wants to continue a conversation or when they may need space.
 Maintaining Two‑Way Communication
Practice skills for balanced conversations, taking turns, and asking follow‑up questions to keep the dialogue engaging.
 Practicing Pausing
Learn how brief pauses can improve understanding, reduce anxiety, and create smoother conversation flow.
Body Language Cues
Explore common non‑verbal signals—such as posture, eye gaze, hand movements—and how they support effective communication.

We will also practice having a “lunchtime conversation”, so pack your favorite lunch to bring along!
